Ref Associate Research Scientist (#18229) BACKGROUND: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, located in Memphis, Tennessee, is a premier center for research and treatment of potentially fatal childhood diseases, including cancer and certain blood, genetic, and immunodeficiency disorders. The hospital's mission is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. RESPONSIBILITIES: Currently, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital has an opening for an Associate Research Scientist (Job Number 18229). The Associate Research Scientist in the Computational Biology Department takes a lead role in developing novel algorithms for large-scale genomic data analysis focusing on next-generation sequence data, integrative analysis of multi-dimensional cancer genomic data and biomarker discovery. The selected candidate will develop novel approaches that integrate multiple algorithms to improve the accuracy and sensitivity of data analysis; Evaluate methods and performance of algorithms from various academic centers; Develop enhancement to existing academic tools to improve usability and performance; Participate in collaborative research with internal and external academic research groups; Publish scientific papers of method development. REQUIREMENTS: - Ph.D. in Computer Science, Mathematics, Bioinformatics or related field is required. Bioinformatics research is required. - Experience with dynamic programming, graph theory, genetic algorithm, decision tree and Bayesian network is required.
