Beginning in 2002, it has grown to become one of the largest bioinformatics conference in the Asia-Pacific region. This year in Singapore, the conference attendance of nearly 450 at the main and satellite meetings, coming from 19 countries, is one of the largest in the history of InCoB, the largest being InCoB’06 in Delhi, India. This annual conference showcases the latest research and technologies in all areas of bioinformatics and is attended by practitioners from both biology and computing backgrounds in the Asia-Pacific region. InCoB was also the first regional conference to publish the top peer-reviewed papers as a journal supplement. InCoB2010 will be held at Waseda University’s International Conference Center, Tokyo, and is organized in collaboration with the International Immunomics Society (IIMMS) and the Chem-Bio Informatics Society (CBI) of Japan. It is proposed to be held in conjunction with the 3rd Conference of Basic and Clinical Immunogenomics and Immunomics (BCII). The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of APBioNet, a network of people associated with the advancement of bioinformatics in the Asia-Pacific region for the past 12 years since its inception in 1998, is held within the InCoB conference annually. Key strategic initiatives to promote the bioinformatics revolution in our life science research and educational community are discussed at the AGM. In keeping with the increasing quality of the conference, InCoB2010 will continue to publish the best papers presented in the conference tracks in BMC Genomics (Impact Factor 3.93), BMC Bioinformatics (Impact Factor 3.78) or Bioinformation and for the first time in the journals, Immunome Research (unofficial Impact Factor 5.33) and IPSJ Transactions on Bioinformatics.
