MRes in Bioinformatics
Location : Faculty of Biomedical & Life Sciences, University of Glasgow, Glasgow, United Kingdom.
The Postgraduate degree in Bioinformatics at Glasgow University was established in 1999, drawing on the University’s expertise in computational biology, and has since acquired an international reputation. It is administered by the Institute of Biological and Life Sciences (IBLS), with a major imput from the staff of the Department of Computing Science. Initially the course catered only for biological science graduates, but from Autumn 2007 a second ‘stream’ of the course will be introduced, catering specifically for students with an informatics or mathematical science background. The course lasts for 12-months, and has two aspects: a taught component and a research project. The taught component contains a bioinformatics core common to both streams, together with material specific for each stream.
