The Bioinformatics and Integrative Genomics program is a specialty area of the Medical Engineering and Medical Physics (MEMP) program. As for all HST students, they will be able to choose from laboratories at Harvard and MIT in which to do their doctoral research. In addition, they will be able to enroll in and take courses for credit at both institutions. This structure gives students a very rich set of educational resources and research opportunities. MEMP is an innovative doctoral program for students who desire a career in health sciences that builds on their engineering and physical sciences background. In order to familiarize themselves with the culture of medicine, MEMP/BIG students take classes alongside HST MD students. In addition to courses in biomedical sciences, engineering and physical sciences, MEMP/BIG students have an extensive, hands-on experience in patient care.
